Financial Literacy

Training in financial literacy is vital in helping Grace students to become self-sufficient and navigate the myriad of economic issues that face everyone today. To move toward this goal, Grace Institute maintains partnerships with organizations around the city that come and share their expertise with Grace students. Here are three organizations that regularly participate in programs at Grace:

Operation Hope presents workshops on debt and credit management that include tips on how to establish and maintain good credit, credit score reports and determinants, prepaying debt, and developing a budget and reducing expenses.

The New York Junior League presents a financial literacy training lecture, "Credit, Budgeting & Debt: Managing Your Money Wisely." Topics included how to check your credit, creating a spending plan, prioritizing debts, and how to protect against identity theft.

A representative from the New York Department of Consumer Affairs addresses students on filing taxes, where to get free tax help, and understanding income tax benefits for which they might be eligible.
